A Day to Remember!

After much perseverance I managed to secure us two sets of tickets to the Olympic games. Unfortunately we gave up the first set to see Table Tennis last weekend as Kieran was extremely unwell :(
Thankfully yesterday went ahead and oh my, what an afternoon/evening it was.
We took the train at noon, then the underground to the North Greenwich arena (aka the O2!)

The transport was a dream, clear signposting and ooodles of volunteers on hand to help - brilliant!

Getting there so early meant we whizzed through security and had plenty of time for something to eat (burgers at the Slug & Lettuce!) and a visit to the shop to buy a basketball, pin badge and some Olympic Ring wristbands!

The Bronze medal match between Australia and Russia was a true spectacle with superb entertainment, the crowd was amazing and it was so special to rub shoulders with folks from across the globe. The Aussies lead for the majority of the game and were the medal winners :)

After the match we headed back toward the Underground station and as expected the queue was quite large so we decided to hang back & explore for a while. Emirates had sponsored a cable car which takes you to the Royal Docks in 10 mins.

We the decided to go and see the Greenwich Pier and I'm so glad we did! After a short wait we were on a Thames Clipper with coffee in hand. What an experience, I blimmin' love London!!!
I'll leave you with a few shots of the journey....

The first is from the pier (if you squint you can see the floodlights at the Olympic Stadium!)

Happy Day :)
