Bunting & a Challenge

So finally Mum & I made bunting! Some may say a year too late, but we love it anyway. Our new garden was devoid of any flora but we're getting there. The difficult area is the shady part so we're helping it on its way with the bunting :)
After blog hopping last week I came across a scrap challenge site called Color Stories Inspiration and here is my first entry, they have a different challenge up each Friday. Here is the remit :)

and here is my entry
and here are some more photos :)

A Scrapbook Page

It has been so long since I completed a 12" x 12" scrapbook page, maybe coming up to a year!
I have been busy making Keepsake Canvases & continuing to record our everyday in my Project Life album, as well as cooking, making bunting etc. I will share bunting photos when the sun comes out next!

So for this layout I was inspired by the July Sketch Challenge by Scrap365. I saw the sketch on Pinterest & knew instantly I wanted to "have a go!" What's even more amazing is that it's a selfie!!!

I've used Studio Calico, Echo Park, Pink Paislee, Tim Holtz, K&Co & Kaisercraft products - oooh and a Christmas Cracker embellishment. See, I knew I was keeping them for something ;)

Thanks for stopping by :)

My first Quilt!

Last week I completed my first "Raw Edge" or "Rag" Quilt!
Whatever it's called I love it, I love that it was sew easy (groan!) and I also love the fabric.
It's a "French General - La Belle Fleur" Layer cake by Moda which contains 40 10" x 10" squares. This I bought on Ebay.

The Beautiful Batting I purchased from a Wonderful Quilting shop quite local to us called "The Bramble Patch" in Weedon, Northants. (talk about kid in a sweet shop!)
The backing is from a brushed cotton single sheet from Dunelm Mill.

My friend Jane completed one a year or so back and I knew then I needed to have a try. In the meantime I've been pinning ideas onto my Fabric & Sewing board on Pinterest.
If you take a peek you can see the sites where my inspirations came from (mostly from Bloom & Blossom) Mine is different in that I haven't bound the edges and my quilting shape was slightly different. I feel confident now to have a go with different designs next time!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Week 18

"April Showers bring May Flowers"
so they say
(who are they anyway?)
Whatever! Let's hope all the hard work in the garden will pay off over the next few weeks.

In the meantime... Happy Week 18!

Long time, no blog!

Well the slightly warmer weather has meant most of my time has been spent outdoors with the whole family sorting out the gardens. We were lucky enough to move to a house with a more or less blank canvas garden wise. It's only taken 5 months to actually get out there a do anything! So this quick post is to share a few photos taken over the last week or two :)

Thanks x

New Canvas :)

And it's pink!
Yeah, go me! This is quite a big deal considering I live in a male dominated house (cats included) and my personal favourite colour is blue :)

So anyway, today I'm sharing this 20cm x 20cm x 3.5cm box canvas that is winging it's way over to The Rainbow Wedding Shop in Dunchurch. It's designed to take a 5" x 3.5" photo and is called "Cute as a Button" reatiling at just £11.99

For any one crafty I used Pastel Flowers by Woodware, Doodlebug paper, Bazzill white cardstock, Simplicity White pom pom trim, a Vellum sticker by EKSuccess, Brilliance ink and a Hero Arts stamp.

Hop on over to the shop and take a closer look :)
Thank you x

Update and a Freebie

Hi all!

Updating the blog from the good ol' pc today. The Blogpress is ok if you're wedged to the sofa and cannot shift your backside but I'm still preferring the old way!

So first the freebie....
Two Birthdays in our family this week so I thought I'd create a Birthday Filler card.
After looking through Pinterest I found a link to this Nest of Posies Blog which has a wonderful entry on Chalkboard Fonts.
It's been so long since I uploaded a font!

So here's mine. It's 4" x just under 3"
If you make one share back, they're great fun to do!

Enjoy!

In other news, I lost just over 4lbs last week!
I think
The reason I think is that the 2 sets of scales and the Wii fit board all say different things...
So I'm sticking with the set that says I'm the heaviest and we'll see.
I noticed they had some talking scales in Lidl the other week, I should have bought them as my eyesight's going too (hey, maybe I lost more!)

Kieran is continuing to bloom. Yesterday he joined a local Volleyball club.
He was slightly freaked at first as he was clearly the youngest out of the 11 - 17 age group, but he took it in his stride and got along great!

This Saturday he is having a driving lesson which was his Xmas present from my M&D.
I can't wait lol!
Pics to follow.....

Take care for now

Project Life begins!.....

A week of new beginnings!

Losing weight so far so good (Tuesday is weigh day)

Exercising not too bad either, plenty of walks but will try a class this week coming.

#fatmumslims photo a day - managed every photo this week!

And my favourite has to be Project Life, I'm loving it. Nothing complex, just print and journal :)

Today we took a ride out to Hillmorton to find the skate park, low and behold it was at the top of the road where I spent my first 5 years of life. We drove down so I could show Jim & Kieran. Of course the road looked so much smaller than I imagined! The skate park was fairly deserted and very wet which made for a few unintended slides but it was worth a go

And anywhere we see graffiti a photo has to be taken!

Hmmm the holidays are over, back to school tomorrow.
Take care all x

Ok so maybe it was just me having fun!
